Working together, I know we'll accomplish great things for Alaska.
I'm so excited to solve problems alongside, and on behalf of, my fellow Alaskans.
My name is Anthony Lekanof, and I've been preparing for this job my entire life.
As an Aleut Alaska Native, and one who grew up in a remote Alaska village, I was taught early on the importance of serving each other and our communities. As Alaskans, it is our responsibility to take care of each other, through good times and bad.
I'm running for State House because I believe that it is time for a new generation of leaders to emerge -- leaders who can look forward to the future without forgetting the lessons and challenges of the past.
Alaska's challenges are not linear -- they are complex and nuanced. And I'd like to have a shot at solving them for the future of our state.
I look forward to earning your trust and support this year. If I can do anything to serve you, please let me know.
Anthony Lekanof is an Aleut Shareholder, serves on the St. George Tanaq Corporation Board of Directors, while serving as a member of the Audit and Finance Committee under Tanaq. Originally from St. George Island, Anthony now resides in Anchorage as a business and finance student at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Our legislature made a mistake with SB 91, and then another mistake with SB 54. Alaskans want a full repeal of these bills. Let's take another (better) shot at criminal justice reform.
Permanent Fund Restoration
The capping of the PFD hurt small income families. Alaskans depend on the PFD to survive, and our economy depends on it, too. I support a full restoration of the PFD.
I’m a firm believer in a government that you can barely notice. Let's make sure the basic requirements are covered but otherwise leave Alaskans to determine their own destiny.
All proposed taxes should go on a ballot before the people they'll affect. That's just common sense. As your next representative, I'm committed to keeping taxes low and making sure Alaska's tax policy says that our state is "open for business."
We have a responsibility to use our resources in a sustainable way. From fishing to mining and beyond, we should be pro-development, pro-environment, and pro-problem solving.
Providing access to renewable energy is paramount to Alaska's energy future. Access to affordable, clean energy can maximize cost savings throughout the state.
